Welcome to puppyhood, where an adorable little creature bites your ankles, pees on your carpet, and treats your couch like a chew toy. It’s a lot, but it goes faster than you think. 

 

The good news is, you’re right in the sweet spot for socialization. What you do in these early months matters more than almost anything else. Puppies who get positive exposure to new people, places, sounds, and situations during this stage grow into confident dogs.

Behaviors we work on in class:

• Basic manners: sit, down, stay, wait, drop it, leave it, and more

• Biting and mouthing

• Jumping on people

• Pulling on leash

• Coming when called

• Attention span in distracting environments

 

Urban Puppy classes are focused on socialization. We introduce your dog to the world at their pace, building confidence through positive exposure to new people, places, sounds, and situations. 

 

Puppies must be at least 3 months of age and have proof of current vaccinations.  

 

*The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior suggests starting group socializing classes as early as 8 weeks of age as long as the pup is up-to-date on their vaccination schedule*

3. Browse the calendar. Pick your classes and show up when your schedule allows. Your credits wait patiently in your account until you need them, so you’re never stuck in limbo because you missed a week.​

4. Mix and match. Combine Urban Puppy, Urban Dog, or Adventure classes based on what your dog needs most (and what sounds like fun to you!).  ​

5. Keep Going. Most of our clients don’t stop after their first pack. Once you start seeing progress, it’s hard not to keep showing up!

The teenage phase is when your sweet, mostly-manageable dog starts ignoring you, dragging you across the street every time they see a squirrel, and going absolutely bonkers when guests come over. Or maybe you just adopted a rescue with a mysterious past who seems to be playing by their own rules.  This class is also for adults and rescues who are still working on becoming all they can be.

For the dogs who aren’t quite ready to go everywhere, and the owners who are done leaving them behind. If your dog knows basic commands at home but “forgets” them in public, these classes are for you. Or maybe you’ve just moved to San Diego and want to enjoy the city with your dog by your side.

 

These classes are for dog parents who want their dog to come with them everywhere they can, without being embarrassed by barking, lunging, or other behaviors that can earn you some side-eye.

• Building confidence with new spaces and experiences

• Proofing commands they know at home but ignore in public

 

Dogs 5+ months and up.  Vaccinations required. Leash reactive dogs are not welcomed without approval from instructor.
